I Have a Dream
at the Lincoln Memorial, Washington D.C.I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.
Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.

Farewell Address
Radio and TelevisionFirst, I should like to express my gratitude to the radio and television networks for the opportunities they have given me over the years to bring reports and messages to our nation. My special thanks go to them for the opportunity of addressing you this evening. Three days from now, after half century in the service of our country,

Announces Presidential Exploratory Committee
TelevisionAs many of you know, over the last few months I've been thinking hard about my plans for 2008. Running for the presidency is a profound decision -- a decision no one should make on the basis of media hype or personal ambition alone -- and so before I committed myself and my family to this race, I wanted to be sure that this was right for us and, more importantly, right for the country.

Commencement Address at Vassar College Tom Hanks, May 22, 2005,NY
Thank you. Thank you, Fran, for that introduction. As Milton's wife
said to Milton of Milton's Paradise Lost, "Seems a little long to me,
but I liked it."
Not long ago I was reading about the problem of gridlock on the
freeways of Southern California --the -- the traffic jams which cripple
the city, stranding millions and laying waste to time and energy and
the environment. Gridlock is as serious and as impenetrable a problem
as any we face, a dilemma without cure, without solution, like
everything else in the world it seems.
Tech Talk: Linus Torvalds on Git at Google Linus Torvalds, May 14, 2007
Thank you, for coming everybody, some of you probably already have
heard of Linus Torvalds, those of you who haven't, you are the people
with Macintoshes on your laps.
He is a guy who delights being cruel to people. His latest cruelty is
to create a revision control system which is explicitly designed to
make you feel less intelligent than you thought you were.
Calvin College Commencement Address George W. Bush, May 21, 2005, Grand Rapids, MI
Thanks for having me. I was excited to come back to Calvin, and I was
just telling Laura the other night about what fun it would be to come
to Calvin College. And I said, you know, "Laura, I love being around so
many young folks. You know, it gives me a chance to re-live my glory
days in academia." She said, "George, that's not exactly how I would
describe your college experience." She also said one other thing I
think the graduates will appreciate hearing, good piece of advice. She
said, the folks here are here to get their diploma, not to hear from an
old guy go on too long. So with that sage advice, here goes.
Commencement Address at Knox College Barack Obama, June 4, 2005
Good morning President Taylor, Board of Trustees, faculty, parents,
family, friends, the community of Galesburg, the class of 1955 -- which
I understand was out partying last night, and yet still showed up here
on time -- and most of all, the Class of 2005. Congratulations on your
graduation, and thank you -- thank you for the honor of allowing me to
be a part of it. Thank you also, Mr. President, for this honorary
degree. It was only a couple of years ago that I stopped paying my
student loans in law school. Had I known it was this easy, I would have
ran for the United States Senate earlier.
Commencement Address at Stanford University Steve Jobs, June 12, 2005, Palo Alto, CA
I'm honored to be with you today for your commencement from one of the
finest universities in the world. Truth be told, I never graduated from
college, and this is the closest I've ever gotten to a college
graduation. Today, I want to tell you three stories from my life.
That's it. No big deal. Just three stories.
Ich bin ein Berliner (I am a 'Berliner') John F. Kennedy, June 26, 1963, West Berlin
I am proud to come to this city as the guest of your distinguished Mayor,
who has symbolized throughout the world the fighting spirit of West
Berlin. And I am proud -- And I am proud to visit the Federal Republic
with your distinguished Chancellor who for so many years has committed
Germany to democracy and freedom and progress, and to come here in the
company of my fellow American, General Clay, who ...
Limited Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Address to the Nation John F. Kennedy, July 26, 1963
I speak to you tonight in a spirit of hope. Eighteen years ago the
advent of nuclear weapons changed the course of the world as well as
the war. Since that time, all mankind has been struggling to escape
from the darkening prospect of mass destruction on earth. In an age
when both sides have come to possess enough nuclear power to destroy
the human race several times over, the world of communism and the world
of free choice have been caught up in a vicious circle of conflicting
ideology and interest. Each increase of tension has produced an
increase of arms; each increase of arms has produced an increase of
tension.
The Evil Empire Ronald Reagan, March 8, 1983, Orlando FL
Those of you in the National Association of Evangelicals are known for
your spiritual and humanitarian work. And I would be especially remiss
if I didn't discharge right now one personal debt of gratitude. Thank
you for your prayers. Nancy and I have felt their presence many times
in many ways. And believe me, for us they've made all the difference.
